At HOLRY Motor, our closed-loop stepper motors are available in 2-phase and 3-phase configurations, offering step angles of 1.8° and 0.9°. How Closed Loop Stepper Motors Work

Closed-loop stepper motors combine the precise positioning capability of traditional stepper motors with the real-time feedback control of servo systems. They operate through a continuous feedback loop between the motor, driver, and encoder.
Command Input:
The controller sends a target position or speed command to the motor driver.

Motor Rotation:
The driver energizes the motor coils in sequence, causing the rotor to rotate step by step, just like a standard stepper motor.

Encoder Feedback:
A built-in encoder (incremental or absolute) continuously monitors the motor shaft’s position and speed.

Real-Time Correction:
The encoder sends feedback to the driver, which compares the actual position with the commanded position. If any deviation occurs (for example, due to load changes or mechanical resistance), the driver instantly adjusts the current and phase to correct the position.

Closed-Loop Control:
This real-time monitoring and correction create a closed control loop, ensuring accurate motion without missed steps, overshoot, or drift.
